bush tried to push through? it is not. it is not different from what george w. bush tried to push through. lower taxes, fewer regulations, more domestic energy production, promises of deficit reduction that are overwhelmed by increased defense spending and reduced tax revenues and panting rhetoric about economic freedom pretty much defined the bush administration's economic policy. and how did that economic policy work out? it was a disaster. this graph is by david leon hart of the "the new york times." it looks at five-year growth periods since 1955. the two periods that span the bush years are '01 to oectionz 06 and 2010, coming in dead last. the jobs graph was much better. this graph from the center for american progress compares job growth under bush's business cycle and under the preceding business cycles and gives bush a handicap. it doesn't count '08 when the financial crisis and recession begin. but even with the handicap, the bush years again perform poorly. you see them there on the right? they're the small bars. and note that the graph, again, it ends

remember they try to paint reagan as a doofus, george w. bush, sarah palin, dan quayle. that is one thing they cannot do with governor romney. it wasn't true with everybody else either. but governor romney as someone who is so serious in tone and style and intellect and mission. they can't do that. the other thing that gives me hope. let me just finish. the other thing that encourages me about governor romney if he is the political killer. he is not john mccain, god love him. i respect john mccain so much. he's not bob dole and is not george h.w. bush. i love and respect them all. i voted for all of them. but when they were running, they ran sort of old tired campaigns. they read 20th century campaigns. mccain was incredibly passive. he was afraid to run against barack obama and it showed. they romney does not suffer from not at all. there is a bitter political killer on scene and barack obama. you have to send a political killer to go against any political killer and i'm telling you, governor romney wants this more than life itself. he can taste it. you can taste the pr
